Lucid Consulting Engineers aims to build a reputation in the building services industry as the employer of choice for outstanding professionals in our industry, and hence to avail our clients of the best possible personnel to represent their interests. This allows us to maintain, consolidate and extend our outstanding team which ultimately yields benefits for our clients including continuity and consistency of service and representation, quality of design and a more professional and holistic approach to projects.

The arrangement of our organisation enables the directors and senior engineers to adopt a 'front-line' role on our projects.

Our company strategy is to provide our Clients with exemplary and high value service that exceeds expectations. Our staff is a cohesive group of experts and the office is of a size that allows responsive and accurate communication with Clients and design staff in all disciplines.

Lucid in the Community

The Community Policy entails a donation being given anually to a charity on behalf of each staff member from the office. The charity to receive the donation is chosen by staff members.


Directors:

Bruce Hatwell - Director / Electrical Services Discipline Leader

Bruce Hatwell has earned a reputation as one of the most dedicated, respected and knowledgeable electrical services engineers currently consulting in Adelaide. He holds a broad knowledge base over all aspects of electrical services including lighting, communications, high and low voltage reticulation. His trade background combined with tertiary qualifications, where he excelled as an engineering undergraduate earning the "Keith Johinke" medal for the most outstanding graduate of his year; provide him with a practical and thorough approach to consulting.

Bruce's proactive approach to engineering avails his clients of a level of service not usually provided by consulting engineers. His holistic view of all projects, attention to detail, dedication to safety in all aspects of his involvement, and willingness to step in and adopt a lead role to drive projects to completion with satisfactory outcomes for all stakeholders ensure that his involvement in projects constantly adds value.

Bruce has developed a strong relationship with Educational/ Institutional type clients including the University of Adelaide, in which he is in charge of numerous fit-out and electrical/communication services upgrade projects, Prince Alfred College and the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds. He was recently involved with the Showgrounds Kingsway redevelopment for which he was responsible for the associated site electrical services upgrade with a contract value of approximately $550K. Currently he is the Lucid Director in charge of the proposed new Exhibition Centre to be constructed at the Showgrounds.

Pat Callisto - Director / Fire Services and Hydraulics Discipline Leader

Pat Callisto has over 25 years experience as a mechanical/fire/hydraulic services engineer in the building industry. His experience and understanding of all engineering services disciplines has enabled him to successfully lead multi-disciplinary teams on numerous major projects to ensure that the co-ordination between all engineering services and architectural/structural aspects of each project is carried out effectively. Pat has recognised that effective co-ordination and attention to detail are aspects of our documentation which can reduce construction costs by minimising latent conditions and post contract variations.


Pat’s collaborative approach to consulting and ability to interact with all parties ensures that projects are delivered to the satisfaction of his clients. This has been emphasised over the years with many clients who have worked with Pat in the past offering repeat project engagements. Pat has developed strong relationships with numerous developers and architects who have provided Lucid the opportunity to work on exciting and in some cases landmark award winning projects. Projects have included the Conservatory on Hindmarsh 19 storey Office/Apartment building, the 20 Hindmarsh Square Hotel/Apartment Development, Ipad Student Accommodation Building and the Henley Square Retail/Apartment development.


For major projects where Pat is the Project Director for Lucid Consulting Engineers, he takes an active interest and involves himself with all building services disciplines providing an overseeing coordination role.

Anthony Di Marzo - Director / Mechanical Services Discipline Leader / Sustainability Discipline Leader

Anthony Di Marzo commenced working as a mechanical services consulting engineer in 1995 and since then has built a reputation for innovative and energy efficient mechanical system design, high level client service and value adding as a project team leader. Anthony joined Lucid Consulting Engineers in November 2004 and has developed a vast array of major project experience, acting as the building services project team leader on such major projects as Adelaide Central Plaza ($85M), UniSA City West Campus Stage 2B ($30M), Horizon Apartments ($26M), Conservatory on Hindmarsh ($45M) and 20 Hindmarsh Square ($85M).

Anthony recently carried out the role of Mechanical Services and ESD Discipline Leader on the ‘Conservatory on Hindmarsh’ 19 storey mixed use commercial /residential tower. For this project he was responsible for the Mechanical Services design including incorporation of energy saving initiatives to meet stringent energy performance targets set for the building.

Anthony has also lead services design teams involved in a number of large industrial and high-span projects including Bickford’s bottling plant (12,000m²), Transport SA Regency Park Inspections Area (“Spot Cooling”), Port Power Indoor Training Area, DWN Distributors(7,000m²) and Adelaide Showground - New Exhibition Building (8,000m²).

Of particular relevance is Anthony’s experience with passive cooling, natural ventilation and mixed mode systems, such as Modbury High School Arts Building, Australian Science and Mathematics School at Flinders University and Lucid's headquarters in Kent Town.

Anthony has provided solutions for complex engineering challenges such as temperature control of greenhouses (Amazon Waterlily Pavilion, University of Adelaide Plant Accelerator) and air conditioning of numerous heritage listed buildings. Anthony was responsible for modelling and prediction of internal conditions within heavy equipment workshops at Olympic Dam and performed detailed studies to identify relationships between comfort and productivity in these manual work environments.

Anthony has also been responsible for a number of air conditioning ‘retro-fit’ and plant upgrade projects requiring innovative solutions and high level project management as well as a number of server rooms and data centres.

Anthony holds accreditation as a Green Star Accredited Professional and a NABERS Accredited Assessor and has provided expert ESD consulting services on major projects including The Advertiser building (Waymouth Street), Adelaide Convention Centre, Conservatory on Hindmarsh, Noarlunga Aquatic Centre, The Watershed, and Prince Alfred College Senior School Library. These projects have provided a wide variety of challenges and approaches to ESD and some have involved successful collaborations with third parties and industry bodies.


Associates:

Lee Pappageorgiou - Associate / Electrical Engineer

Lee joined Lucid Consulting Engineers in July 2001 as a graduate electrical engineer and was one of the company's first employees. Lee progressed through his development and was appointed a Senior Electrical Engineer in 2005 before being promoted to an Associate role in 2007.

Lee has been responsible for the delivery of a number of important projects including key infrastructure works for the University of Adelaide, Queen Elizabeth Specialist Centre ($3.5M), Smith's Rural Service Centre throughout SA ($6M), Marryatville Shopping Centre ($12M), Leabrook Retirement Village - all stages ($50M), Conservatory on Hindmarsh ($50M) and the soon to be completed 20 Hindmarsh Square Crowne Plaza and Apartment Development ($85M).

Lee has developed excellent team building and management skills, and has a high level of knowledge of the requirements to create and progress quality design solutions in all engineering disciplines.

Andrew Iarossi - Associate / Electrical Engineer

Andrew Iarossi joined our organisation in January 2007 as a senior electrical engineer and brings an array of knowledge in the building services, infrastructure and public/feature lighting fields.

Andrew was involved in $42M Adelaide Showground New Goyder Pavilion and has been responsible for the high and low voltage power reticulation, intelligent lighting systems, colour change feature lighting and DTEI street lighting. In addition to the design role, Andrew also represented Lucid Consulting Engineers as the Project Manager.

Andrew has 4 years experience in the field of High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical distribution with the completion of underground residential distribution designs at Mawson Lakes and Newport Quays and underground industrial distribution designs at Burbridge Business Park.

Andrew completed the Certificate IV in Illumination Engineering where he was awarded top student in the class of 2004/2005 and is currently a Technician member of the IES (TechIES). The range of lighting jobs Andrew has worked on varies from the redevelopment of the North Terrace Boulevard, the Solar lighting project in Victoria Square and various Path Way lighting along the River Torrens.

Andrew Shinnick - Associate / Hydraulic Designer

Andrew Shinnick joined Lucid Consulting Engineers in January 2005 as the company's first full time hydraulic services designer. Andrew has been able to develop the hydraulic services team to include a team of three experienced designers, a graduate engineer and four CAD drafters. His development within the company has progressed and in 2009 he was appointed the Hydraulic Services Manager before being promoted to an Associate role in 2010.

Andrew has been responsible for the delivery of a number of significant important projects including key infrastructure works for the University of Adelaide, Plant Accelerator and Genomics Centre ($25M), IPAD Apartment Complex ($15.5M), Leabrook Retirement Village - Stages 2 and 3 ($20M) and Conservatory on Hindmarsh ($50M).

Jarrad Clift - Associate / Electrical Engineer

Jarrad Clift has over five years experience working at Lucid Consulting Engineers after graduating as an Electrical Engineer with honours from the University of Adelaide.  Jarrad was appointed as a Senior Electrical Engineer of Lucid in 2008 and promoted to an Associate in 2010.

Jarrad has developed into a Project Management role within the Company and has been responsible for the delivery of significant and complex projects.

Jarrad has worked predominantly with large institutional, defence and government clients in the design and procurement of critical facilities. Jarrad specialises in the delivery of Data Centres and has been largely involved in this field on a national level.  His expertise in this area of work has been reinforced through his involvement as a speaker at data centre conferences.

Through his high level project delivery experience Jarrad has developed a detailed understanding of the risks and opportunities presented by various forms of project work in all disciplines.  This knowledge ensures the best project outcome at every opportunity.

 

Jarrad’s continuing professional development has seen his involvement in the University of Adelaide Professional Management Programme, Greenstar Accreditation and Engineers Australia Chartered Engineering Status.
